I can hardly believe August is already here! The summer has flown by! I'd like to congratulate all the teens who registered for and completed the Teen Summer Reading Program. It was a fun summer and I'm already looking forward to next year. Teens, throughout the program you read 1,845 hours! You guys rock! Also congratulations go out to Emma Corcoran and Emma Katzer. These ladies won the iPod and Kindle Fire drawings.
Something to see before school starts is City of Bones, a teen book turned movie that is hitting theaters soon. You can find it in a theater near you August 21st. City of Bones is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series. In this urban fantasy, fifteen-year-old Clary is drawn into a bizarre world where she can suddenly see demons and the Shadowhunters who fight them. When her mother disappears, Clary discovers that her mother's and her past are not what she thought and she finds herself in the middle of a battle between good and evil. Here's what a teen reader had to say, "Interesting book. I'm excited to see where the series goes. Most series of this nature only focus on the dark side of mythology, vampires, werewolves, fairies, demons, etc. This book add the elements of angelic lore to the mix." I recommend the book and I'm excited to see how the movie compares.
